 daVinci Project

The daVinci Project is a one-week summer residential program for middle and high school mathematics, science, and technology teachers. The program brings teachers to campus for a series of engineering workshops intended to help them integrate elemental engineering into the classroom. Participating teachers learn rudimentary engineering concepts and engage in experiments demonstrating specific engineering principles. Teachers spend 16 hours in focused workshops of their choosing and spend another 14 hours in 10 special seminars/tours/demonstrations designed to broaden their experience.

Explore Engineering

E2 is a one-week residential summer program for current high school sophomores and juniors. During this exciting week at the Storrs Campus, participants explore engineering careers by working in small groups with faculty and college students to learn what various engineers do in the workplace; learn and demonstrate engineering concepts and during the evenings YESS Program (6-8 pm Monday – Wednesday) students focus on a single engineering discipline by fabricating a discipline specific device. The week wraps up with demonstrations of items the students created during the week. Examples include rudimentary EKG devices, Smart Lego vehicles that can follow a trail, fuel cell and other energy efficient devices, wooden bridges, environmental friendly processes and how to resolve differences.
